Famous Tourist Places in Damoh

Kundalpur

First on our list is the nature’s majesty ‘Kundalpur’. Actually no other place could have been in the top of our list, as this is the only place in entire Damoh which brings together spirituality and nature in seamlessly beautiful way. And as they say nothing calms our heart when spirituality and nature comes together, which is way we’ve put this place right on the top. This place is actually home to 63 auspicious Jain temples. It is one of the very few places in entire India that brings so many Jain temples together in one place, making it one of the most sacred pilgrimage places for Jain devotees. However, it isn’t at all necessary that you should belong to Jain faith for visiting this beautiful place. As people belonging to different faith have been visiting this place for thousands of years and they still do.

Damoh famous tourist places

The greatest attraction amongst 63 temples that reside here is temple dedicated to Bada Baba or Bade Baba Bhagwan Adinath, which is actually oldest temple of Kundalpur. But the real specialty of this temple, besides being oldest temple, is that it has huge statue of Bada Baba carved out of red stone. The statue is really unique. Its uniqueness in fact can’t be expressed in words. It is only when you see it that you’ll come to know how truly unique it is.

Nohleshwar Temple

Located near Nohta Village, some 24 kms away from headquarter city of Damoh , is historical Nohleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The history of this temple dates back to ancient era of 9th century, when Kalachuri or Cheddi Empire was one of the foremost rulers of Central India. This temple is therefore very much symbolic of Damoh’s rich history.Besides, architectural design and structure of this temple is also why you must visit this temple. Though due to lack of attention and maintenance its architecture has lost much of the sheen, but it is still worth experiencing.

Jatashankar

Located exactly on the outskirts of headquarter Damoh city is the iconic Jatashankar Temple, dedicated again to Lord Shiva. Its location in the midst of scenic nature, which has been drawing locals since centuries, is what makes this Lord Shiva Temple so Iconic. Besides, the temple has huge archeological importance, but archeologists are yet to make any concrete finding about this temple and therefore even today much of the history of this temple remains huge mystery. But above all it is the scenic surrounding and blissful peace that visitors find here which is the main U.S.P of this place.

Singaurgarh Fort

Tourism in DamohAmong all the historical places that are located in Damoh none is as fascinating as fort of Singaurgarh. Primarily because here Damoh’s most fascinating historical figure ‘Rani Durgawati’ used to reside . But more importantly from this very fort she led the memorable battle against rampaging armies of Mughal king Akbar and achieved martyrdom. Rani Durgawati’s story of bravery and martyrdom have today become part of Damoh’s popular folklore and hence this fort has immensely important place in the history of this region. The only drawback about this place is that today it is in very ruined condition, but if you make little effort then you’ll surely feel hidden history that these ruins have to offer.
This historical fort is located some 6 kms away from Sigrampur Town.

Nidan Kund

This is the lone waterfall of Domah and is a popular with picnic place amongst locals, who regularly flock here to have some fun time. The stream of waterfall is strongest during the month of July and August, which is when Monsoon season is at its peak in Damoh. But it is advisable to visit the waterfall during September and October, as stream of water subsides considerably after post monsoon season and hence visitors are less prone to accident. Nidan Kund is located some 1 km away from Bhansi village.

Nazara

Little more further from Bhansi village, approximately 3 kms, is famous spot called Nazara. It is actually a small platform created right at the top of a mountain, from where you get breathe taking views of forests, hill ranges and even wild animals. This place, in other words, will take you closer to flora and fauna of Damoh District. If you have any slightest love for nature, then visit to this place would be more than a pleasant experience. Carrying a camera or camera enabled mobile phone is highly recommended when visiting this place.

Sad-Bhawna Shikha

This is another famous spot from where you get breathtaking view of Damoh flora and fauna. This famous spot is in fact located on the top of famous Vidhyachal mountain ranges, so the view from here is even more stunning and breathtaking. The only flip side is that climbing all the way to this peak is very exhaustive. So travelling to this spot via private vehicle makes much more sense. It is also located near Bhanisa village.

Entertainment and Nightlife in Damoh

All that Domah can offer on the front of entertainment and nightlife is few cinema halls and innumerable beer bars. Other modern amenities like pubs, nightclubs and shopping malls are pretty nonexistent here, as Domah is still largely rural area and very conservative society. However, tourists can enjoy decent amount of shopping experience in the main city Damoh . Don’t miss the visit to famous Ghantaghar, which is the biggest landmark of Domah and is also the main shopping destination of the city.
